When an editable website link helps
An editable link gives you a shared address whose destination can change. Use it when a newsletter, printed QR code or partner post must keep the same address after an offer changes. If you can easily edit every placement and need no link statistics, a direct website URL may be enough.
Choose the destination you control
| Scenario | Destination | Check before sharing |
|---|---|---|
| Online shop | A product or offer page on your domain | Availability, mobile layout and checkout |
| Booking | Your booking page | Available slots and confirmation |
| Quiz | The first step of your quiz | Answers persist through the flow |
| Checkout | A supported payment page on your domain | Session requirements and the return after payment |
GoToApp website destinations require domain verification. You need to be able to upload a verification file to the exact hostname you use. A hosted checkout or booking domain owned by another service may not let you do this. Use a page on a domain you control when the provider domain cannot be verified.
Set up the website project
- In Domains, add the destination hostname without https:// or a page path.
- Upload the plain-text verification file using the URL and contents shown in the dashboard, then select Verify.
- Add a project and choose Website, quiz or checkout. Paste the HTTPS page URL.
- Save the project, then create a link with a separate campaign path for each placement you want to compare.
- Open the shared URL on iPhone, Android and desktop. Test inside the email or social app where it will be used.
What changes when you edit the destination
Website mode uses the same page for iOS, Android and desktop unless you set a different desktop page. Editing a project changes the destinations for its links together. Use separate projects when two offers need independent destinations; separate campaign paths within one project do not provide independent destination settings.
Use an existing QR code after a page change
Generate the QR image with another tool using your GoToApp URL. Editing the project destination preserves that address. Test a printed sample after the edit. Keep the account and link active, and remember that Pro subdomain addresses depend on an active Pro plan. GoToApp does not create the QR image.
Measure the right events
GoToApp counts requests to the link, including repeat visits and automated requests. Your website analytics measures page visits, form completions and purchases. See the campaign measurement guide for parameter setup and checks. GoToApp does not host the destination page or process payments.
Set up your link
Choose a website link setup, a quiz or checkout flow, or review the link handbook.
Questions
Can I use GoToApp without a mobile app?
Yes. A website project can send all devices to a page on a verified domain.
Can each campaign path open a different website?
Links in one project share its destination settings. Use separate projects when the destinations need to change independently.
Can I use any hosted booking or checkout URL?
The website domain must be verified. If the provider will not let you publish the verification file on its hostname, use a page on a domain you control.
