Dating apps and install traffic

Few categories depend on Instagram and TikTok as heavily, which makes the in-app browser the single biggest tax on the funnel.

The channel mix

Dating products live on social, because the audience is there and the creative works. That means most paid taps happen inside an app's browser rather than a real one, which is exactly where store links fail.

Why the loss hides

Category benchmarks for click to install are already low, so a funnel losing a fifth of its taps to blank pages looks unremarkable next to published averages. The problem is invisible precisely because expectations are low.

The quiz funnel pattern

Many dating apps run a web quiz before the download, which improves intent and adds a step. The quiz runs fine in the in-app browser; the Download button at the end is where the chain breaks, after the visitor has answered ten questions.

What to change

One more thing specific to the category

Age gates and content warnings often add another redirect before the store. Each hop is another chance to lose the parameters, so verify the tokens survive to the end rather than assuming.

One link at the end of the quiz, and a delivery number that tells you what the creative is really doing.
