Reddit links to the App Store

Two problems here: the browser, and the fact that Reddit actively resists you posting the link at all.

The browser

Reddit's official app opens links in an in-app WebView by default, though it exposes a setting to use the system browser. Third-party clients mostly hand links straight to the browser.

So the audience splits: some taps reach the store fine, others hit Apple's itms-appss:// redirect inside a WebView that cannot follow it.

The other problem

Reddit's spam filters remove posts with links from accounts that lack history, and many subreddits ban store links outright. A domain that appears repeatedly across posts can end up filtered site-wide.

The practical consequence is that Reddit rewards being useful without a link and putting the address in a comment when someone asks. That is not a workaround, it is how the platform is designed.

If you do post links

Long tail

Reddit threads rank in Google for years, so a helpful comment with a link keeps sending traffic long after the thread dies. That makes the destination worth getting right even for a single comment.

One address that works for the half of the audience whose client would otherwise fail.
